When am I entitled to receive a copy of the Procedural Safeguards Notice?

Reviewed by Dr. Elizabeth Long, Ph.D. — Director of Special Education, 32 years in public schools.

You must receive a copy: upon the initial referral or your request for evaluation, upon each notice of an IEP meeting, upon each reevaluation, when you file a state complaint or a due process complaint, and when a disciplinary removal creates a change of placement. You can also request a copy at any other time.
