Can the school reduce or stop a related service without my agreement?

Reviewed by Dr. Elizabeth Long, Ph.D. — Director of Special Education, 32 years in public schools.

No. Any change to the type, frequency, or amount of a related service is a change to the IEP and requires a team meeting and prior written notice — you have the right to disagree and can request the team reconvene before any reduction takes effect.
